Career Opportunities

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) Valbin Corporation is always seeking new talent for the SME position.

Requirements:
• Must have 5+ years in Subject Matter Expert Capacity experience working with one or more of the DoD or Foreign Affairs agencies (i.e. Department of State, USAID, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, Department of Commerce's Foreign Commercial Service; Intelligence Agencies or International Development Community)
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree
• OCONUS experience preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with U.S. peace & stability operations, and with international & cross cultural activities in post-conflict or conflict transformation situations overseas

Category Linguists: CAT I, II and III

Valbin Corporation is seeking CAT I, II, and III Linguists. Must be proficient in one or more of the following languages: Dari, Pashto, Farsi, Urdu, Arabic and/or Kurdish. Must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a clean background check.  Security Clearances are preferred, but not required.

All linguists are required to have Native proficiency equal to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) levels 3 - 5. Linguists should also have an English proficiency equal to ILR levels 2 – 5.

  • Category I (CAT I) linguists should have a working English proficiency or ILR level 2+ or higher.  This category does not require a Security Clearance.
  • Category II (CAT II) linguists must have a working English proficiency or ILR level 3+ or higher.  CAT II linguists must be U.S. Citizens screened by government designated personnel.  CAT II linguist will be granted interim access to SECRET by the Defense Security Service or other designated U.S. government personnel.
  • Category III (CAT III) linguists must meet, at a minimum, the criteria of ILR level 3+ or higher in English. CAT III linguists must be able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and have broad vocabulary.  CAT III linguists should be able to accurately follow the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers, understand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports and some oral technical reports.  CAT III linguists must be U.S. citizens who either possess a TOP SECRET Security Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) or who, after prescribed counterintelligence screening, have been granted by the U.S. Government, at a minimum, an interim TS Secuirty Clearance with interim access to SCI.

Professional Foreign Language Interpreters and Translators

If you are interested in working as an interpreter, translator or instructor with our company for a specific foreign language please send us an e-mail at jobs@valbin.org with a resume, cover letter specifying the languages you are applying for, and at least three references of your past performance in the language or subject you are applying for. We accept applications from any qualified native foreign language speakers who have experience in the interpretation/translation field and can ensure linguistic and technical accuracy.

Our translators/interpreters go through a 3 step process:

  1. Screening - Valbin interviews all potential new translators/interpreters and language instructors/tutors to evaluate their poise and professional demeanor and to assess their professional skills, training and experience.
  2. Testing - Valbin translators and interpreters must pass a bilingual exam. This test evaluates the translator/interpreter on many levels, including fluency in both languages (English and their native language), interpreting competence and knowledge of subject.
  3. Evaluation - Valbin regularly evaluates translators/interpreters’ performance through client feedback and random monitoring of on-site appearances.

Program Manager

Valbin's Mission Readiness Support Services (MRS) department is seeking a Program Manager (PM). The PM will be responsible for managing and implementing overall contract requirements. He or she will be responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the staff and monitoring the performance of staff. He or she will supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of staff, while also being responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining work processes and rules. He or she will be responsible for preparing reports on trends in customer inquiries and recommending improvements in service.

Requirements
• Bachelors degree, plus a minimum of 10 years related experience.
• Experience with Army (MRE) Mission Readiness Exercises
• Interpersonal skills to interact with and coordinate between various levels of employees, management, contractors, subcontractors, and government representatives
• Superior organization, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills.
• Experience organizing, planning and executing tasks that require multiple contributors.
• Strong knowledge of US Government contracting regulations and policies, including experience and training in federal compliance rules, regulations and standards associated with federal funds.
• Professional experience in a relevant industry or discipline.
• Management experience in multi-tasked environment.
• Strong program management and execution skills and knowledge of program management discipline.
• Leadership experience with medium to large integrated teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
• General computer proficiency (email, internet and file management) is required.
• Strong planning and program management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Secret Clearance or the ability to get one.
• Travel could range from 1 week to 2 months at a time.

Staff Assistant

Position Summary: This position is available immediately and supports Valbin's staff with coordination and administration of government contracting opportunities for foreign language services and cultural awareness training. This position is for an entry-level candidate looking to grow with an expanding company. Some travel may be required.

Functions:
• Fulfill administrative tasks including data entry, answering phones, photocopying, faxing, filing, scheduling, etc.

• Maintain an online data base
• Keep careful record of all foreign language assignments in order to assist in the preparation of accurate invoices.

Requirements:
• BA in Business, International Relations, Linguistics, English or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience in proposal writing a plus.
• Strong research, analytical, and editing skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Flexible working with other cultures.
• Foreign Language skills are a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is required.
• Experience with MS Access and Dreamweaver is preferred, but not required

Facility Security Officer

Description:
The Facility Security Officer (FSO) will be in charge of managing security clearance processes, conducting security briefings, and preparing periodic reinvestigations for Valbin Corporation.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  overseeing all policies and processes for physical, personnel, document, and Automated Information Security, developing and implementing security practices in conformance with federal government mandates, and ensuring all security measures are met for Valbin Corporation staff and subcontractors.

Internship Opportunities:

2011 Internships

Valbin Corporation is currently hiring self-driven and pro-active individuals for our 2011 Internship Program. This is an excellent opportunity to receive practical hands-on business experience with a government contractor. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Assisting staff in preparing proposals & grants, coordinating events and activities for exchange programs, updating website, maintaining databases, phone and email communications with linguist applicants, and other general office duties such as answering phones, filing, etc. The intern may be asked to assist all three departments of Valbin Corporation, including Mission Readiness Support Services, Deaf Culture & Sign Language Services, and Communication & Language Services.

A weekly stipend will be provided.
The intern must be available: Monday – Friday; 9:00am - 6:00pm.
